Electrochemically induced dimerization of lipophilic redox proteins: theoretical insights in protein-film square-wave voltammetry

نویسندگان

چکیده

Electrochemically induced protein dimerization often happens when two electrochemically generated radicals or other charged species come into intimate contact. In such an event, dimers might be created due to hydrogen bonding because of interactions uncoupled free electrons in both proteins. The process is triggered by the applied potential difference that affects amount monomeric species. case lipophilic redox proteins, protein-film voltammetry a technique first choice can provide insight mechanistic pathway and help get access kinetic thermodynamic parameters related process. this work, we for time square-wave study theoretically strongly adsorbed While important hints are given recognize specific mechanism voltammetry, also propose methodologies physical relevant mechanism.

Protein-film voltammetry: a theoretical study of the temperature effect using square-wave voltammetry.

Square-wave voltammetry of surface redox reactions is considered as an adequate model for a protein-film voltammetric setup. Here we develop a theoretical approach to analyze the effects of temperature on square-wave voltammograms. The performed simulations address the surface redox reactions featuring slow, modest and fast electron transfer. The theoretical calculations show that the temperatu...

Redox properties of several bacterial ferredoxins using square wave voltammetry.

The equilibrium reduction potential of the 2[4Fe-4S] ferredoxin (Fd) isolated from four different bacterial strains was determined at a methyl viologen-modified gold electrode using square wave voltammetry. The observed reduction potential at pH 8 for Clostridium thermoaceticum Fd was -385 mV; Clostridium pasteurianum, -393 mV; Clostridium thermosaccharolyticum, -408 mV; and Chromatium vinosum,...

Multistep Surface Electrode Mechanism Coupled with Preceding Chemical Reaction-Theoretical Analysis in Square-Wave Voltammetry

In this theoretical work, we present for the first time voltammetric results of a surface multistep electron transfer mechanism that is associated with a preceding chemical reaction that is linked to the first electron transfer step. The mathematical model of this so-called “surface CEE mechanism” is solved under conditions of square-wave voltammetry. We present relevant set of results portrayi...

Surface Catalytic Mechanism in Square-Wave Voltammetry

A pseudo-first-order catalytic mechanism in which both reactant and product of the redox reaction are strongly immobilized on the electrode surface is theoretically analyzed under conditions of square-wave voltammetry (SWV). A mathematical procedure is developed for diffusionless conditions. The relationships between the properties of the voltammetric response and both the kinetic parameters of...
